I started my professional career in San Diego, California, working in the county health department, a county hospital, and also the Women Infants and Children (WIC) program. I was fortunate to become a Certified Lactation Counselor supporting women with their breastfeeding issues.
MY BACKGROUND
I am a Sewanee native, moving here from Memphis at age 10 with my family. I attended Sewanee Elementary School, St. Andrew’s-Sewanee, and ended up in college here as well—a bit of a homebody! I played soccer at Sewanee and also ran Track and Cross Country. After graduating from the University of the South I obtained advanced education in Dietetics, lived in Ireland, working with individuals with severe mental disabilities, worked as a line cook and manager at some kitchens of Nashville, and attended graduate school at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Through my travels I snagged a handsome California surfer, married him, and became the lucky mother of a little girl. In my free time (ha!) I like to sew & quilt, read fiction, hike, vegetable garden, cook, and spend time with friends and family.
